Our Mission | Preserving Scottsville's History

Scottsville Candle Company exists to preserve, celebrate, and share the history of Scottsville and Allen County for future generations.

What began as a small candle company has grown into something much larger—a heritage brand dedicated to telling the stories of the people, places, and moments that have shaped our community. Through historical research, thoughtful storytelling, carefully designed products, and the ongoing restoration of historic properties, we strive to ensure that Scottsville's legacy is never forgotten.

We believe history should not live only in museums, archives, or history books. It should be experienced in our homes, displayed on our walls, shared around our tables, and passed from one generation to the next. Every candle, every framed print, every postcard, every edition of The Scottsville Journal, and every preservation project is created with that purpose in mind.

At the heart of our work is The Scottsville Journal, our weekly publication dedicated to documenting the history of Scottsville and Allen County through original research, historic photographs, primary sources, and the stories of the people who built this community. We believe local history belongs to everyone, and we are committed to making it accessible, engaging, and meaningful for all.

Our mission also extends beyond storytelling. Through The Welch House Restoration, we are documenting the careful restoration of one of Scottsville's historic homes, demonstrating that preservation is not simply about saving old buildings—it is about honoring the lives, craftsmanship, and memories they represent.

Everything we create is guided by one simple principle:

If it doesn't preserve, celebrate, or share the history of Scottsville and Allen County, it doesn't belong at Scottsville Candle Company.

We also believe that quality matters. We will never release a product that we would not proudly display in our own home. Every item we offer is thoughtfully selected or designed to reflect the character, beauty, and history of the community we love.
