Description
There was a time when summer evenings along Holland Road were filled with the sound of hymns drifting across the countryside.
Standing quietly among the trees, the Scottsville Tabernacle became one of Allen County's most beloved gathering places — a destination for worship, fellowship, homecomings, and community celebrations that brought generations together beneath its open-air roof.
Constructed in 1897, the Tabernacle was built to serve the growing revival movement that swept through rural Kentucky during the late nineteenth century. Families arrived by wagon, horseback, and later by automobile, gathering for days of preaching, singing, prayer, and fellowship.
For many local families, attending meetings at the Tabernacle became a tradition passed from one generation to the next.
Through changing times, the structure remained a familiar landmark — a place where memories were made, friendships were strengthened, and faith became woven into the story of Allen County itself.
Though more than a century has passed since its construction, the spirit of the Tabernacle endures.
It stands as a reminder of a simpler era when community was built face-to-face, neighbors gathered without invitation, and the rhythm of life paused long enough for people to come together beneath its historic rafters.
A place shaped by faith, fellowship, and memory.
